WordPress Developer Contractor (Remote, Project-Based)

About the Role We're looking for a WordPress Developer Contractor to handle project specific development work. The ideal candidate has experience building custom WordPress themes and understands SEO, performance optimization, and accessibility best practices. Proven web design experience is a big plus. Responsibilities • Develop fully custom WordPress themes (no page builders, Tailwind, or Bootstrap). • Build sites from a homepage and 1-2 secondary page templates • Ensure all sites meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards. • Use preferred plugins: Advanced Custom Fields Pro, Classic Editor, Gravity Forms, Yoast SEO, Custom Post Type UI. • Write clean, modular, and lightweight code optimized for speed SEO, and maintainability. • Conduct QA and collaborate effectively with the design and SEO teams. • Work independently to meet deadlines while maintaining proactive communication. Qualifications • Proven experience in custom WordPress development • Proficiency with PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. • Understanding of accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and SEO principles • Strong attention to detail and code quality • Reliable communication Work Details This is a remote, 1099 contractor position.
