Website Developer (WooCommerce)
Part-Time or Contract | Remote
Hammock Gear is seeking an experienced website developer with strong WooCommerce skills to help us maintain, improve, and expand our e-commerce site. This is a part-time or contract position with flexible hours and remote work. The workload will vary depending on current projects; expect anywhere from 5 to 25 hours per week in the early stages as we work through a substantial backlog of development tasks.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Develop, maintain, and optimize WooCommerce product pages, templates, and site functionality
ā¢ Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, display issues, and backend logic
ā¢ Implement updates related to product variants, pricing logic, and data-driven features
ā¢ Assist in improving site speed, caching, and performance on our hosting environment
ā¢ Create or update custom plugins as needed for workflow and product logic
ā¢ Work with spreadsheets, product data, and structured databases as part of data-driven feature development
ā¢ Collaborate with our team to scope, plan, and prioritize upcoming improvements
ā¢ Provide clear communication, consistent updates, and reliable timelines
Requirements
ā¢ Strong proficiency with WooCommerce and WordPress development
ā¢ Ability to build and troubleshoot custom templates and plugin functionality
ā¢ Solid understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL
ā¢ Experience with database-driven features or product data management is a major plus
ā¢ Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
ā¢ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
ā¢ Reliable availability for part-time or fluctuating hours
Compensation
ā¢ Hourly rate based on experience
ā¢ Remote, flexible scheduling
ā¢ 1099 contractor or part-time employment structure available
