Wildlife Biologist/Botanist On-Call Central ValleyCalifornia Central Valley RegionJob DescriptionThe ICF On-Call Field Biologist and Field Botanist positions will be responsible for a range of biological field services, including construction monitoring, avian species identification and nest surveys, floristic botanical surveys, general and focused biological field surveys, and providing as-needed field support to our local and regional Biological Services Team members.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute field assignments for Central Valley California-based work (with a focus on Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties), with occasional travel to other regions of California to support biological field surveys. Conduct general and species-specific biological surveys and monitoring pursuant to the relevant regulations, codes and/or industry standards. Document field findings in monitoring logs, reports, memos or email communications, as appropriate. Communicate with client field contacts and ICF senior biologists. About On-Call Employment with ICFGiven the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).RequirementsA BA/BS in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Plant Ecology, or related discipline1+ years of environmental/consulting andbiological field experienceMust have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicles Records (MVR) check.Preferred SkillsBasic documentation/data management experienceExperience working in environmental compliance and/or construction fields (i.e., biological construction monitoring).Geographic Information System (GIS) software skillsIntermediate or advanced nest surveying, active nest monitoring, and buffer establishment.Basic botanical knowledge of central and southern CaliforniaAvian nest monitoring and species identification skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to respond timely to deployment requests (i.e., sometimes next day)Ability to travel to field sites in Central California and occasionally assist with surveys in rugged, undeveloped terrainAbility and experience conducting work in active construction sites and communicating with operatorsProficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)#cabioWorking at ICFICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
