Wildfire Mitigation Planning Consultant (Contract / Freelance)
Overview
The Wildfire Group is building a bench of experienced wildfire mitigation planning professionals for project-based consulting work supporting utilities, communities, and land managers.
This is not a full-time role. We are seeking independent consultants available for scoped engagements.
What You Will Do
ā¢ Lead or contribute to wildfire mitigation plans (CWPPs, utility WMPs, risk reduction plans)
ā¢ Develop risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and implementation roadmaps
ā¢ Review and strengthen existing mitigation plans
ā¢ Coordinate with GIS, modeling, and technical contributors as needed
ā¢ Deliver clear, defensible, regulator-ready documents
Required Experience
ā¢ 7+ years of applied wildfire mitigation or fire management experience
ā¢ Direct authorship or leadership on wildfire mitigation plans
ā¢ Experience working with utilities, counties, tribes, or agencies
ā¢ Ability to work independently as a contractor
Engagement Details
ā¢ Contract / freelance (1099)
ā¢ Project-based or milestone-based compensation
ā¢ Remote with limited meetings
ā¢ Flexible workload based on availability
Pay: $90.00 - $150.00 per hour
