Web Developer I
California State University is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Web Developer I to support and maintain websites for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. In this role, you’ll help ensure web content is accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with university standards while collaborating with campus partners to enhance digital communications and user experience.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update OmniCMS-hosted websites, including content updates and site migrationsEnsure websites meet accessibility, usability, and mobile responsiveness standardsManage site functionality, including redirects, calendars, and integrationsSupport newsletter and email production using SalesforceCollaborate with content creators to improve site structure, navigation, and user experienceEnsure alignment with SDSU brand and web standardsConduct accessibility reviews and implement improvementsSupport search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, Google Analytics and best practicesStay current on trends in UX, accessibility, and web designPartner with IT and campus stakeholders on web projects and enhancementsAssist with digital initiatives, including graphics and web-related contentProvide guidance and support to colleagues on web tools and processesSkillsEquivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related fieldStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentFoundational understanding of website structure, web development concepts, and general design principlesFamiliarity with web technologies, design tools, and/or programming languages used in website development and maintenanceEffective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate both independently and within a team environmentCreative problem-solving skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologiesExperience supporting or maintaining a website and working within content management systems (CMS), including OmniCMS is preferredKnowledge of HTML, CSS, web UX best practices, and web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x and Section 508) is preferredExperience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom) is preferredBenefitsGenerous Time Off : 15 paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.Retirement : CalPERS pension plan with retiree healthcare, and reciprocal agreements with other California public retirement systems, including the UC.Health Coverage : Medical, dental, and vision options at low or no cost.Education Support : CSU tuition fee waiver for employees and eligible dependents.Optional Offerings : FlexCash, life and disability insurance, legal and pet plans.Campus & Community : Access to the library, campus events, employee groups, and volunteer and social activities.Company OverviewThe California State University is the largest system of four-year higher education in the country, with 22 campuses, 56,000 faculty and staff and more than 450,000 students.
