The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Temporary Web Developer to support website development and digital accessibility initiatives. This position will assist with maintaining and improving university web properties built on WordPress, ensuring content meets institutional standards for usability and accessibility.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update university websites built in WordPress, including content updates, layout adjustments, and troubleshootingImplement web design and development improvements to enhance usability, performance, and accessibilityEnsure websites follow digital accessibility best practices? (e.g., WCAG guidelines)Conduct accessibility remediation for digital documents including PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentationsWork with staff to identify and resolve accessibility or functionality issuesAssist with testing and quality assurance across browsers and devicesDocument processes or updates as neededSkillsHigh School or General Educational Development diploma and six months of experienceEquivalent coursework in computer operations or information technology from a technical school or community college may be substituted for the required experienceJourney level requires an additional six months of education or experienceAdvanced level requires an additional one year of education or experienceWorking knowledge of digital accessibility standards or best practicesFamiliarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web development principlesDemonstrated experience developing and maintaining websites using content management systems such as WordPress or CSSExperience working in higher education or with large organizational websites which rely on teamwork and timely communicationsExperience with educational digital mediums such as Learning Management Systems (Canvas) or Office 365BenefitsExclusive perks that include numerous retail and restaurant discountsSavings on local child care centersSpecial rates for performing arts eventsCompany OverviewThe Carolina Population Center (CPC) is a community of outstanding scholars and professionals associated to create new knowledge about population size, structure, and processes of change.
