About the position The VP of Operations will lead the operations function within the infrastructure business segment at Kennametal, focusing on aligning manufacturing capabilities with business strategies to exceed customer expectations. This role involves driving continuous improvement through best practices and a standardized manufacturing operating system across a global matrix organization, which includes multiple business units and manufacturing sites. The VP will be responsible for the overall performance of manufacturing operations, maintenance, quality, and talent management, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. Responsibilities • Develop a vision for Operations across the Infrastructure segment to support the business strategy. • Develop and implement the Operations strategy and roadmap for all Infrastructure businesses and sites including footprint optimization and rationalization. • Establish an operating system that ensures consistent operations practices across different sites. • Drive operational improvement through a disciplined process to measure plant performance and corrective action. • Implement a continuous improvement process and best practices to ensure competitive and reliable operations across businesses and regions. • Lead the planning and implementation of innovative, cost-effective, safe manufacturing technology processes and techniques. • Ensure effective implementation of EH&S practices and culture for a safe work environment at all plants. • Inspire and motivate staff to ensure high employee engagement and create a positive work environment. • Drive alignment and prioritization of capabilities with Business Unit leaders and other stakeholders to meet operational needs. • Develop and leverage strong relationships with key commercial stakeholders and customers to exceed expectations in quality and delivery. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering Operations related discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred. • At least 15 years of experience in Manufacturing transformation including culture change, technology integration, and footprint consolidation. • Demonstrable experience of leading an operations function with a proven track record in strategic manufacturing leadership. • Experience in leading in a global matrixed environment. • Proven management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development. • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage and negotiate with stakeholders. • Strong project management skills, able to work as a sponsor and team leader on multiple projects. • Comprehensive experience in process design and development, with knowledge of lean manufacturing/6 Sigma.Apply Now
