About the position

The Virtual Nurse (VN) is a registered nurse (RN) who works remotely from a centralized location and partners with the in-person primary nurse and team.
The VN advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional, spiritual, and clinical support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The VN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The VN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The VN collaborates with, and assists in guiding care delivered by the interprofessional team. The VN will perform tasks that may include admissions, discharges, patient education, rounding on patients, performance improvement, etc. Components of the role include the following:
The VN will provide an additional level of support to patients, and the primary in-person team. The VN will leverage advanced technology to collaborate with the in-person primary nurse and interprofessional teams in order to achieve positive patient outcomes and provide real-time clinical decision support as defined in the departmental workflows. The VN will be integrated as an important part of EHC care team and will have the opportunity to establish trusting relationships with the rest of the clinical team.”
The RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, they adapt to changing situations and personalize care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. They serve as a resource for colleagues and advocate for patients and families.

Responsibilities
β€’ Delivers safe, effective, and independent nursing care using the nursing process.
β€’ Performs thorough patient assessments and recognizes the impact of nursing care on outcomes.
β€’ Develops and implements patient care plans, incorporating patient/family input and adjusting as needed.
β€’ Documents care accurately and efficiently in electronic and physical records.
β€’ Identifies patient and family learning needs, recommending appropriate resources.
β€’ Recognizes cultural differences and individualizes care accordingly.
β€’ Delegates appropriately using the Synergy Model of Care.
β€’ Works effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family care partners.
β€’ Functions in a developing leadership role, including Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned.
β€’ Assists in orienting staff and students in the absence of a designated preceptor.
β€’ Demonstrates strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
β€’ Identifies the need for policy revisions based on evidence-based research.
β€’ Engages in professional growth and actively applies the Synergy Model for Care in practice.
β€’ Collects, reports, and analyzes data to improve patient care and meet organizational standards.
β€’ Participates in surveys, interviews, and other methods to identify and resolve areas for improvement.
β€’ Maintains required points and contact hours per the clinical lattice PLAN system.

Requirements
β€’ BSN reqired.
β€’ 4 years’ experience as an RN working with a diverse patient population in inpatient areas.
β€’ Most recent in the last 2 years. Certification in area of expertise preferred.
β€’ Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), AND A. 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years, OR B. Recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.
β€’ A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
β€’ BLS certification
β€’ ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire
β€’ Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
β€’ If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.
