Vice President, Sports Remote Production, Operations & Events Director

Position Overview: The VP of Sports Remote Production, Operations & Events Director will have oversight of sports events logistical scheduling(crewing) and production management. This multifaceted position to also include production personnel hiring strategy and live sports/entertainment directing during studio or studio remote shows. Responsibilities: • Responsible for the development, strategy and guiding a team of remote operational leaders, production managers, and crewing/scheduling group. • Hiring strategy and implementation of remote/studio production personnel and assignments to all properties utilizing national property experience (i.e. staff & freelance producers, directors, AP’s, PA’s etc.) • Directing of live studio or studio remote events as needed to maintain key knowledge base • Staffing efficiencies, related to budget management of the department within Versant/USA Sports, contract development & experience with outside vendors • Managing remote and/or REMI broadcast presentations, new technologies(streaming) and technical operations team and production management • Partner with the SVP of Technical Operations, on the hiring of remote technicians, including camera, video, audio, video tape, etc. • Oversight of remote on-site surveys with guidance from the Tech Managers/Show Directors and operational leads • Partner with HR and Labor Relations on all union related items inclusive of contract negotiations, onsite issues, labor management and ensuring applicable union rules are applied onsite • Partner with Executive Producer & sport governing bodies for onsite efficiencies and other operational needs across the sports portfolio • In cooperation with the executive and production teams, align and meet all company business, financial and budgetary goals • Maintaining & building vendor relationships both operational and technical • Steering Committee member for Sports Operations hiring, crewing and payment processing system; advising on improvements and functionality QUALIFICATIONS – Basic Requirements: • Minimum 20 years’ experience working in a television network production and operational/management leadership position • Minimum 20 years of sports and entertainment event experience • Producer and director “in the chair” experience with studio shows and remotes on national properties/broadcasts • Experience in network and cable network daily operational needs in a startup or established mode is key. • Proven ability to build and lead creative, forward-thinking teams Desired Characteristics: • Leadership • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Strong problem-solving skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Experienced knowledge base of college and professional basketball, golf, motorsports, entertainment “on site” remotes Additional Requirements: • This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
