The Role Lumen is transforming into an agentified network services company, placing our customers at the center of everything we do as they agentify themselves. To lead this charge, we are seeking a visionary VP of Customer and Network Transformation with deep expertise in networking, skill transformation, automation, and AI. This executive will be the steward of Lumen’s most critical asset—our network—and will manage our 24/7 Network and Customer Engineering organization. You will lead a large engineering team with deep expertise in the lifecycle management of the Lumen network and customer services. As a strategic change agent, your mission is to deliver a significant improvement in Lumen's competitive position by driving transformational capabilities, creating cost efficiencies, and delivering a competitive advantage that will open new avenues for revenue generation. In this role, you will be directly responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of workflow automation and AI capabilities that assist in managing our network and supporting our employees and customer services. Success in this position requires deep collaboration across every part of Lumen, including Service Delivery, Field Ops, Managed Services, Sales, IT, Product, and Architecture & Engineering. The Main Responsibilities Strategic Transformation Drive the development and implementation of workflow automation and AI capabilities. Champion the adoption of emerging technologies to revolutionize the customer experience and network performance. Identify and execute initiatives to achieve multi-million dollar cost-out goals and a company-wide skills transformation. Operational Excellence Lead cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale digital and network modernization projects. Ensure the 24/7 reliability and performance of the network and customer engineering operations for our most strategic customers. Leadership & Mentorship Lead and develop a high-performing organization of 200+ engineering professionals, including Director and Sr. Director level reports. Build deep, collaborative partnerships with internal leaders and external network suppliers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centricity. What We Look For in a Candidate Executive Experience 15+ years in Network Operations, Technology, and Digital Transformation, with a proven track record of success at the Director or VP level within a Fortune 500 company. Network Expertise Authoritative, hands-on knowledge of large-scale service provider network architectures, including transport, IP, and SDN. AI/ML/Automation Expertise A relevant AI certification is required. You must have demonstrated, practical experience developing and implementing sophisticated automation and AI solutions to solve real-world business problems. Strategic Acumen Demonstrated ability to connect complex technical initiatives directly to financial outcomes and business value. A high degree of ownership, accountability, and self-awareness is essential. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
