Veterinary Technician - Ophthalmology Part-time: Wednesday and Thursday. On-call availability may be required in the future. Albuquerque, NM Eye Care for Animals is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. About You As a Vet Tech, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients. Role Responsibilities: β’ Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. β’ With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow. β’ Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act β’ Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments. β’ Present financial options and estimates β’ Prepare medications β’ Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems. β’ Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts. β’ Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. Experience & Skills Requirements: β’ Veterinary technician experience required β’ Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience β’ Licensed preferred β’ Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, and IV, IM, and SQ injections β’ Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment β’ Team player β’ Eager to learn and self-motivated β’ Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills β’ Ability to multi-task About the Hospital Eye Care for Animals is dedicated to providing exceptional ophthalmology veterinary care. Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $20 - $31/ hour.
