Veterinary Medical Records Specialist
Position Overview: The Veterinary Medical Records Specialist works with the Care Navigation Team to improve efficiency and quality of care by ensuring that all patient medical records are readily available in an organized and easily accessible manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Facilitate new patient referral intake process by acquiring, organizing, appropriately summarizing, and tracking medical records from all providers involved in the current and historical care of the individual patient
Recognize that accurate and easily referenced medical records greatly impacts the quality, cost and outcome of care for every patient
Build a strong working relationship with the Care Navigation Team which includes the Care Navigator and Hospital Logistics Specialist
Learn to read, understand and respect medical records and practice style of community general veterinary practice teams and the Arista specialty & emergency teams
Facilitate the ongoing client/patient journey by managing concise electronic medical records across systems
Help develop and improve on the electronic tools needed to streamline and create more efficiencies in the provision of advanced care
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years experience working in healthcare - veterinary technician, nurse or relevant clinical experience
Experience in both general practice and specialty/ ER veterinary medicine preferred
Extremely organized, detail oriented and self-motivated for efficient working style
Must be comfortable with medical terminology, medical records and diagnostic reports
High proficiency with Electronic Medical Record / PIMS systems as well as email, efax, PDF and document scanning
Clear and friendly verbal & written communication skills for telephone, email and texting with veterinary clinical staff
Ability to work independently while staying connected to a team and taking pride in work
