Verification of Benefits Specialist

The Verification of Benefits Specialist verifies patient specific mental health and substance use benefits while precisely documenting specifics for various payer plans including patient coverage, cost share, and access/provider options according to Program specific SOPs. Verification process could include electronic validation of pharmacy coverage and medical eligibility. The VOB Specialist is responsible for updating patient benefit information in the EMR and verifying that existing information is accurate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Compiles medical insurance verification of benefit and eligibility information submitted by

client/admissions for processing within timelines

· Ensures verification of benefit and eligibility information obtained from payer/insurance company is accurate

· Auditing of verification of benefits for quality and assurance measures

· Responsible for maintaining a system for initial and subsequent verification of benefits

· Responsible for daily reporting of verification of benefit activities

· Prepares and maintains individual patient file, documentation in electronic HIPAA compliant application

· Keeps supervisor apprised of matters regarding verification of benefits

· Always represents Company in a professional manner

· Keeps current with third party/payers’ guidelines

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·High school diploma or GED

Prior experiance with SUD/MH VOB

· Exemplary customer service skills

· Attention to detail and ability to complete the job with minimal errors

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

· Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
