BASIC FUNCTION: The incumbent will operate various pieces of equipment to cut –re-determined sixes and shafts of steel using CNC plasma cutting machinery, magnetic cranes, forklifts, etc. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working from the direction of the supervisor, the job requires the cutting of pole trapezoids and or parts by using magnetic crane and multi-torch plasma cutting machine and cutting table. • Sets the multi-torch cutting machinery using Valmont’s blueprints and by selecting the correct type and gauge of steel. Follows blueprints, layouts, templates and work orders to obtain various shapes, designs, contours and dimensions. • Responsible for keeping the machine clean and doing operator preventative maintenance as needed. • Able to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time product without manufacturing errors. • Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management. • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures. SKILLS /QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma or equivalent • A minimum of 3 years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired or graduation of an accredited trade school with one year of experience. • Ability to program and re-set the CNC cutting machinery, trouble shoot operating malfunctions, and be well versed in operator’s maintenance of the equipment. • Able to express equipment, parts, or procedural problems to the leadperson and the supervisor. The incumbent should know how to complete requires reports and enter the appropriate date with accuracy. • Ability to operate overhead cranes • A thorough knowledge of welding procedures and practices are essential to ensure the quality of the product. This will include the ability to calculate formula using basic mathematics, standard U.S. and Metric Measurements. • Knowledgeable of Valmont’s quality procedures, standards, and practices and will be aware of Valmont’s environmental policies. • At the end of 90 Calendar days the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality and attendance as determined by Management.
