Job description: Summary
We are seeking a Montessori Certified Guide to join our PrePrimary and Primary Teaching Team within the 2yo-3yo transitional environment of 24 children and 4 faculty members. Master Mentor Teachers and Early Childhood Specialists contribute equally to the daily experiences at Little Learners Lodge and the Montessori School of Mount Pleasant under a collaborative teaching model. Carefully selected for their individual talents and strengths, together the MMPSchool faculty members demonstrate the implementation of best practices in center base care which includes not only daily Montessori lessons, but also the incorporation of ecology and science, gardening and baking, RIE and Pikler and more. Each member of the teaching team is respected for their unique qualities, interests and expertise and supported with continued professional training and growth opportunities.
This is a year 'round teaching position with five (5) weeks paid vacation and holidays Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. Children attend 8am-3pm and enjoy access to the curriculum throughout the year and day. Teachers enjoy morning and afternoon environment prep time and daily team meeting opportunities and are supported with tuition assisted professional development. Professional growth opportunities include administrative training, professional paper and grant writing opportunities, facilitating Parent Guidance classes, and research and development. The school also serves as a training center hosting Montessori, Pikler, and RIE Foundations certified courses.
Duties
maintain the physical, social, and emotional safety of the children
integrate the RIE and Montessori models within the curriculum
understand and adhere to state licensing requirements
daily preparation the classroom environment for cognitive needs as well as sanitation
maintain an observational log of individual children
support community lunch curriculum with meal prep and clean up
daily parental communication
participate in team meetings
Requirements
MACTE Montessori certified at the 0-3 or 3-6 level
pass state SLED and background checks
TB and Health Assessment
complete 3 hour RIE Intro Video Training (provided by center)
obtain Infant and Child First Aid and CPR within 90 days (provided by center)
complete ABC online training within 90 days (provided by center)
provide copies of high school diploma and/or college transcript
be mentally and physically able to work with young children independently
Nice To Haves
undergraduate coursework in early childhood education, psychology, sociology, or behavioral sciences
additional certification/experience/training in Reggio, RIE, Positive Discipline, Orton Gillingham, or other progressive models of education
desire to be in nature and live sustainably
