Position : AWS Platform Engineer
Duration: This is a 12-month contract position with opportunity to extend
Location : Mclean, VA(Hybrid)

Job Description :
ā¢ Team is the AWS platform team working in an Agile environment.
ā¢ Candidates will be focusing on administration of AWS and work independently. Should have the technical know-how in ELK (to look into logs) for monitoring purposes, using a dashboard to see the errors and come up with a solution.
ā¢ Production issues may be forwarded to AWS engineers, but candidates must be able to troubleshoot.
ā¢ Must have experience in Shell scripting and Python scripting.
ā¢ This team supports AWS across the enterprise so issues will vary across various applications / business segments.
ā¢ On-call support rotation may require candidates to be on call after hours once every 6 weeks.
ā¢ Teams work with Agile, experience with this is preferred.
ā¢ AWS Admin experience with services like EC2, containerization, service logs, deployment tools like Jenkins will be day to day tools the candidate is working with.
ā¢ AWS certifications are preferred but not required.
Must Haves: 5+ years of experience in AWS Admin, recent hands-on experience with AWS cloud native and containerization services, Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), ServiceNow, Jenkins, strong troubleshooting skills. Strong preference for Shell scripting (UNIX, PowerShell). Preference for logging and monitoring preference for ELK. Preference for ISTIO/TSB.
A successful candidate will have the following characteristics:
ā¢ History of contributing to deployments and troubleshooting technical issues in an engineering role.
ā¢ Knowledge of Cloud, software development life cycles, Agile/Scrum.
Requirements:
ā¢ Minimum 10 years of experience in IT.
ā¢ 5+ years of experience in AWS platform support.
ā¢ Demonstrable experience with:
ā¢ Jenkins, Jira, Git and Artifactory, ServiceNow
ā¢ Scripting languages (UNIX Shell / PowerShell / Perl / Python / Ruby)
ā¢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
ā¢ Self-motivated, driven, and creative individual
ā¢ Experience with the following are differentiators:
