About the position

AECOM’s Urbanism + Planning practice is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Urban Planner to join our team in the Boston region. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary planning efforts across some of New England’s most treasured places –from national parks and waterfronts to historic downtowns –and across the east coast. As part of a highly collaborative team of urban designers, planners, engineers, environmental scientists, and economists, the Urban Planner will help develop plans and lead stakeholder engagement efforts that support municipal, federal, and private‑sector clients in advancing transformational projects focusing on revitalization and resiliency.

Responsibilities
• Support business development initiatives and visibility efforts to help grow AECOM’s planning and design practice.
• Manage master plans, comprehensive plans, and strategic planning efforts.
• Contribute to land use and zoning studies, open space and urban design evaluations, alternatives assessments, and economic development and placemaking strategies.
• Lead the preparation of reports, presentations, graphics, and maps for public audiences, elected officials, and regional leadership.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, facilitate meetings, and manage next steps for planning efforts.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field, plus 4 years of work experience.
• Experience with ArcGIS, MS Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite required.

Nice-to-haves
• 6 + years of experience preferred.
• Experience developing creative and innovative graphics, maps, and document layouts.
• Positive outlook and can-do attitude approach to tasks and teamwork.
• Experience with being efficient and organized with a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills and ability to balance priorities.
• AICP certification (or certification track) preferred.
