As an Underwriter III, you'll be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and making final determinations on loan submissions using manual underwriting guidelines. You'll also provide training, guidance, and support to team members, work with lending teams to identify potential solutions for difficult loan files, and communicate with internal and external clients on loan inquiries. Key Responsibilities: Review, analyze, and make final determinations on loan submissions using manual underwriting guidelines Validate recommendations and underwrite loans as determined by lending authority set by management Work with lending teams to identify potential solutions and alternatives for difficult or denied loan files Communicate with internal and external clients on inquiries regarding loans underwritten by vendors Research and respond to team leads on loans requiring additional escalation and review Proactively address underwriting submission deficiencies and provide backup support to team leaders as necessary Review and maintain guidelines to stay up-to-date with all requirements and regulations Participate in the orientation of new personnel and provide technical support for systems as necessary Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; 4-year college degree preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience with conforming and non-conforming loans required Minimum of 6 years of mortgage banking experience, including jumbo loans and/or government products Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: FHA and/or VA designations required Ability to differentiate between first and second mortgage underwriting Ability to handle secure and private information Technical experience with Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, underwriting software, and systems Excellent customer service skills and analytical skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and adapt to a constantly changing environment Ability to be a creative and innovative problem solver What We Offer Company Perks: 15 paid time off (PTO) days and 18 after 1st anniversary 9 paid holidays Casual workplace Employee engagement activities Company Benefits: Medical (including Health Savings Account & Flexible Savings Account) Dental - RX Vision Life, Disability Insurance 401(k) Plan with company match Employee Assistance Plan Performance-based incentives Pet insurance Advancement opportunities Newrez NOW: Our Corporate Social Responsibility program, Newrez NOW, empowers employees to become leaders in their communities through volunteering, philanthropy, nonprofit grants, and more 1 Volunteer Time Off (VTO) day, company-paid volunteer day where all eligible employees may participate in a volunteer event with a nonprofit of their choice Employee Matching Gifts Program: We will match monetary employee donations to eligible non-profit organizations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000 per employee Newrez Grants Program: Newrez hosts a giving portal where we provide employees an abundance of resources to search for an opportunity to donate their time or monetary contributions Why Join Us?
