Underwriter I, Commercial Lines
BrokerLink, part of Intact Financial Corporation, is seeking an Underwriter I for Commercial Lines to join their growing team. The role involves participating in broker visits, analyzing requests for quotes, and providing technical advice while maintaining strong relationships within and outside the company. Responsibilities Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks Skills Commercial underwriting experience (PNC) Very strong sales and customer service skills Maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto Demonstrate the ability to handle complex risks Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues Strong negotiating skills and business savvy Initiative and ability to work under pressure Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset Benefits Flexible work arrangements and a hybrid work model Possibility to purchase up to 5 extra days off per year Multiple benefits offered to support physical and mental wellbeing, including telemedicine, Wellness account and much more Share plan & other savings: up to 12% of salary or even more (ask how you could earn guaranteed income for life) Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance): 7.5% Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) – with Intact matching 50% of your net shares Our pension offerings provide flexibility and long-term security for our employees beyond their careers.
