UM Unit Precert Specialist - Remote

Mercy Care Management Inpatient Utilization Care Management pre-certification specialist is responsible for completion of precertification, notification, authorization and work queue management, for patient accounts admitted to Mercy designated facilities. Pre-certification(s) must be completed timely, with attention to accurate details per payer requirements, and Mercy policy and procedure. Pre-Certification specialist perform duties required for work queue management, such as, observation charge review, missing room and board charge review and retrospective Medicaid authorization requests. Pre-Certification specialist facilitate fiscal responsibility for both patients and the organization. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Minimum Required Qualifications Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an office environment with computer skills and literacy. Other Skills and Knowledge: Must have ability to work independently and meet deadlines, giving attention to detail and follow-up. Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, able to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize work. Must have a good understanding of medical terminology with the ability to read, discuss and understand patient medical information. Excellent verbal, written and technical skills, particularly telephone and Microsoft suite of programs. Advanced computer skills. Must have ability to interact effectively with a variety of people and situations at all levels of the organization. Why Mercy?
