Remote Full-time
Volunteer Treasurer (Board Member)

Pathways to Services Development

Tri-City Area, Alameda County, CA | Build Phase Organization

Pathways to Services Development is building a structured response to a gap most systems overlook.

Every year, individuals make the decision to change. They complete treatment, exit incarceration, or stabilize after crisis. Then the structure disappears. Accountability fades. Support becomes inconsistent. Many fall back not because they lack commitment, but because the bridge forward was never built.

We are building that bridge.

Pathways is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit in its build phase, developing a disciplined, lived-experience-informed model focused on structure, accountability, and long-term stability after the decision to change. Our initial focus is the Restoration Home Pilot, a structured, peer-supported living environment designed to stabilize individuals during high-risk transition periods.

We are currently operating as a small, working Board of three, actively building the organization’s foundation. This means board members are not removed from the work. They are directly involved in shaping structure, making decisions, and establishing the standards that will carry the organization forward.

We are now seeking a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors and help establish the financial foundation required to move from build phase to implementation.

This role carries real responsibility. We are not looking for a passive advisor. We are looking for someone who can step in and help build financial structure with intention and consistency.

Role Overview

The Treasurer will provide financial oversight and guidance during a critical stage of organizational development. This includes helping formalize financial systems, ensuring compliance, and supporting leadership in building a credible and sustainable funding foundation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide oversight of financial management practices and internal controls

Support development, review, and board adoption of financial policies

Monitor organizational financial position and cash flow readiness

Work alongside leadership to shape early-stage budgeting and funding strategy

Ensure alignment with nonprofit compliance standards at the state and federal level

Prepare the organization for future funding, audits, and financial reporting expectations

Participate in board meetings and contribute to governance decisions

What We Are Looking For

Experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, or financial management

Strong understanding of internal controls and financial governance

Ability to operate with consistency, follow-through, and accountability

Willingness to build systems from the ground up, not just review them

Comfort working in a build-phase environment where structure is still being developed

Alignment with a mission centered on accountability, recovery, and long-term change

CPA, accounting background, or experience serving as a nonprofit Treasurer is strongly preferred.

Time Commitment

This is a volunteer board position. As part of a small, active board, the time commitment is higher than a traditional governance-only role, particularly during this build phase.

Why This Role Matters

We are not building for appearance. We are building for durability.

Financial leadership at this stage directly impacts whether this organization can secure funding, establish trust with partners, and deliver on its mission with integrity. The Treasurer plays a central role in that outcome.

If you are interested in helping build something with structure, accountability, and long-term purpose, we welcome the conversation.
