Position Description:
Our General Surgical Unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in exceptional postoperative care for general surgical patients. Nurses maintain a 1:6 patient ratio and are trained in postoperative care, including pain management, mobility, and bedside procedures. We prioritize a comfortable and healing environment tailored to each patient’s unique needs. The team collaborates closely with local family practice physicians, hospitalists, and surgeons. Candidates must be willing to float to other units and hospitals as needed.
Schedule:
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as required
Education:
• Required: Associate degree in nursing
Certifications:
• Required: AHA BLS or Red Cross
Licenses:
• Required: Registered Nurse State of Alabama or compact license (no temporary licenses accepted)
• NURSYS verification required
Experience:
• Required: Minimum 18 months of experience working under the highest level of professional license, with at least 1 year in the specialty. Prefer 2 years of experience.
