STAR Autism Support has several openings for Training Specialists! STAR Training Specialists are responsible for delivering side by side coaching and consultation to educators and staff serving students Pre-K through secondary on how to implement SAS curriculum tools in the classroom. STAR Autism Support (SAS) is a family-founded educational consulting company based in Portland, OR. SAS provides curriculum materials, workshops and training to school and agency staff who work with students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our unique and practical approach provides school districts with curriculum resources and a continuum of professional development activities to address the educational needs of student’s early childhood through post-secondary throughout the country and internationally. Important Notes - please read first! These positions are open to anyone in the U.S., but we are especially looking for training specialists living in the South and SE regions. A relocation bonus is available for candidates willing to relocate to one of our regions with high need Training Specialist candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: 1) A minimum of 1 year experience using or implementing STAR products in the classroom 2) Live within 30 miles (<1 hour drive) of a regional or major airport Title: Training Specialist Department: Professional Services Schedule: Full-Time; variable hours with average of 40 per week Location: U.S. - Remote with travel ( work from home and travel to customer locations) Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually Essential Functions and Responsibilities . Provide training and consultation to school districts and agencies in implementing curricula for students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Provide educators with in-class coaching using best practices for adult learning. Collaborate with sales professionals, customer success specialists, and district administration to build the capacity of district programs to provide evidence-based practices. Complete consultation notes and gather classroom performance data to support requirements of customer programs and grants. Collaborate with the sales and customer success teams to share customer dynamics, priorities, and progress so they may offer the most appropriate solutions based on individualized needs and goals. Keep current on research-based knowledge of ASD and effective instructional strategies. Provide personal and customer feedback to our product team to promote ongoing improvements of our curricular tools. Support with in-person and virtual workshops, consultations, and presentations on SAS curricula (STAR, Links, SOLS, SOLER, etc.) and strategies for educators, caregivers, and staff using SAS professional development tools. Responsible for booking travel accommodations (flights, rental car, hotel) once monthly schedule has been provided; track expenses and reimbursements and submit via company protocol. Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in education or related fields Minimum of 3 years of experience using evidence-based practices working with students with autism spectrum disorders 1+ years of experience using the STAR curriculum or Links program in classroom settings Ability to travel domestically (via car and air travel), including some weekend travel Excellent interpersonal, presentation, teamwork, written, and oral communication skills Effective observation, consultation, and data collection skills Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree and/or BCBA Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Organizational KSA’s Strong verbal and written business communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively Has a growth mindset, is curious, and interested in ongoing learning and development Adaptable and easily able to pivot as needed Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Self-motivated and proficient at working both independently and as part of a team Intermediate Microsoft office skills and competence in a digital environment Role KSA’s Passionate about teaching evidence-based practices to educators Committed to excellence in all work—working nonstandard hours when necessary, anticipating issues, performing creative problem-solving, and communicating with diplomacy Ability to work collaboratively with education staff, caregivers/parents, administrators, and students Intermediate to advanced experience with online web-based tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, PowerPoint, and Teams as well as ability to learn new software, tech equipment, tools and assistive devices quickly Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues while exemplifying STAR values Ability to communicate well with people at all levels of an organization (e.g. listen to understand, explain ideas simply, ability to give and receive feedback) Travel This position requires a combination of local and travel services (via car and air) where you will work away from your home office. Travel may include classroom visits, workshops, trade shows/conferences and other business-related purposes. Trainers may need to work or travel on weekends or adapt working hours to meet travel needs. Expected service days are a minimum of 12 per month and a maximum of 18 days per month, not including travel to and from the location. Assignments are based on trainer fidelity, customer location and service day requirements, which will impact each training specialist’s number of service days per month. Specific hearing abilities required include the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech in person and over the phone.
