Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled
Trade Surveillance Consultant
with direct experience in cryptocurrency markets to support and enhance their surveillance program. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role where you will play a critical part in monitoring trading activity, identifying suspicious behavior, and ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations in a rapidly evolving digital asset environment.
This position is initially scoped for
6 months
, with the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Conduct
real-time and post-trade surveillance
across crypto trading activity to detect potential market abuse, including spoofing, layering, wash trading, and insider trading
β’ Utilize surveillance platforms such as
Solidus Labs
or
Eventus
to monitor alerts, perform investigations, and document findings
β’ Analyze large datasets across multiple crypto exchanges and blockchain environments to identify anomalous trading patterns
β’ Perform
alert triage, escalation, and case management
, ensuring thorough documentation and audit readiness
β’ Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to refine surveillance scenarios and thresholds
β’ Assist in the calibration and optimization of surveillance models to reduce false positives and improve detection quality
β’ Support regulatory inquiries, audits, and internal reviews related to trade surveillance activities
β’ Stay current on evolving crypto market structure, manipulation typologies, and regulatory expectations
Required Qualifications
β’ Minimum of 2 years of trade surveillance work experience, with a strong focus on cryptocurrency or digital assets.
β’ Hands-on experience with
Solidus Labs and/or Eventus
is strongly preferred
β’ Deep understanding of market abuse typologies within crypto markets (e.g., spoofing, wash trading, pump-and-dump schemes)
β’ Experience monitoring trading across centralized and/or decentralized exchanges (CEX/DEX)
β’ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex trading behaviors and data patterns
β’ Proven experience handling alerts, investigations, and case documentation
β’ Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to crypto trading (e.g., SEC, CFTC, FINRA considerations as applicable)
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience working within a crypto-native firm, exchange, or trading platform
β’ Exposure to blockchain analytics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, TRM Labs)
β’ Knowledge of data analysis tools for surveillance investigations
β’ Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
