Toptal is one of the fastest-growing fully remote networks and empowers freelance software developers, designers, finance experts, product managers, and project managers worldwide to grow and excel in their freelance careers.Toptal clients vary in sizes and industries, from enterprise organizations and big tech companies to Silicon Valley startups and renowned universities.What we are looking for:Technical Writer for High Technology OrganizationAbout the Client:Our client is a mobility technology company.Responsibilities:Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, SDK references, and product manuals.Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and global documentation teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date content.Organize and categorize documentation to enhance usability for both beginner and advanced engineers.Contribute to the documentation strategy by proactively identifying areas for improvement and suggesting innovative solutions.Understand and document complex software products, including SDKs and the Vertex product, ensuring clarity and accessibility.Adapt to different time zones and work effectively with global teams to align documentation efforts.Required Skills and Experience:Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in the software or technology industry.Strong ability to write concise, user-friendly documentation for technical audiences.Experience in structuring and organizing documentation to improve accessibility and usability.Technical expertise to understand and explain software features and functionality, including SDKs.Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage with diverse teams across multiple regions.Ability to work flexibly and contribute to documentation strategy beyond passive writing.Experience working in a global environment and adjusting to different time zones.Nice to haves (Big plus!):Familiarity with documentation tools such as Markdown, DITA, Confluence, or similar platforms.Experience working with complex software products, cloud services, or developer tools.Knowledge of agile development processes and experience in working within product teams.Fully remote work with possible in-person workshop quarterly.Can overlap in PST.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeContractJob functionInformation Technology and Writing/EditingIndustriesAutomation Machinery Manufacturing, Appliances, Electrical, and Electronics Manufacturing, and Industrial Machinery Manufacturing
