About the position

The Therapist position at Bedford-Somerset DBHS involves providing school-based counseling services in local schools and outpatient services to individuals of all ages. The role focuses on assessing student needs, providing consultation and education to school personnel, and delivering therapeutic services. The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues and community agencies to ensure high-quality mental health services are provided.

Responsibilities
• Providing group, individual, and play therapy to children and adolescents in schools.
,
• Consulting and educating school personnel and community individuals on mental health issues and resources.
,
• Completing on-site mental health assessments and intakes for students identified by the school.
,
• Assessing student needs and making appropriate referrals.
,
• Coordinating with crisis intervention staff to handle mental health emergencies in schools.
,
• Providing individual therapy, family therapy, couples counseling, and group counseling to people of all ages.
,
• Collaborating with clients to establish a strengths-based, goal-specific treatment plan in the electronic medical record (EMR).
,
• Providing professional mental health consultation to other staff and community individuals or agencies.
,
• Performing therapy diagnostic evaluations to enroll clients in counseling and psychiatric services.
,
• Making referrals to other programs as warranted.
,
• Coordinating care with crisis intervention staff for crisis assessments related to voluntary hospitalizations.
,
• Providing an eight-week group session focusing on self-care, self-management, and self-recovery topics.
,
• Attending meetings, participating in staff development trainings, and assisting with presentations/trainings to community organizations.

Requirements
• One year of experience as a Psychological Services Associate 1; or
,
• One year of professional experience in psychological services work; and a master's degree in psychology or a closely related field.
