Therapeutic Area Medical Partner for Rare Disease

Therapeutic Area Medical Partner is a Field-based position responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with healthcare professionals, drive scientific partnership initiatives with the healthcare societies, works with Medical Therapeutic Area Lead to develop national strategies for healthcare thought leaders, and responsible for coordinating medical activities with internal and external stakeholders to advances clinical practice and improves patient outcomes. Typical Accountabilities: Identifies and engages top-tier key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca marketed products and compounds in development Develops peer-level relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, (KOLs) Key Decision Makers (KDMs), and researchers consistent with Scientific and Medical Affairs strategy and objectives Identifies pre-clinical, clinical and post-marketing study investigators in alignment with the goals of Clinical Development activities and Therapeutic Brand Teams initiatives Provides actionable information that enhances the value and appropriate use of AZ products to internal stakeholders Responds to customer inquiries to ensure focused and balanced clinical and scientific information that supports the appropriate use of AstraZeneca’s products and services Delivers appropriate clinical and scientific information that clinically differentiates AstraZeneca products Sustains expertise in disease state management, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape Serves as a member of the assigned Therapeutic Area Core Team and leads initiatives that impact national strategies for a specific therapeutic area Serves as a member of the Extended Leadership Team and leads initiatives that impact a specific Therapeutic Area and cross-Therapeutic Areas Works with cross-functional leaders to coordinate Medical activities and optimize use of resources. Integrates scientific and medical knowledge from key opinion leaders, brand teams and literature to identify and forecast trends that might impact AZ business across brands Adheres to internal standard processes and complies with regulatory and compliance requirements Qualifications: Advanced degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent 4 – 6 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry and at least 2 years as a Medical Science Liaison Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment Doctorate in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent Established track record of basic or clinical research Demonstrated expertise in the drug discovery and drug development process Experience in Rare Disease Why AstraZeneca?
