The Bond Between Board of Directors - Veterinarian Recruitment
The Bond Between is currently seeking a veterinarian to join our Board of Directors.
As our organization has grown, so has our impact. In addition to rescue, foster, and community support programming, The Bond Between now operates a client-facing veterinary center serving publicly owned animals. Under Minnesota law, veterinary practices must be owned by a licensed veterinarian. Because The Bond Between is a nonprofit organization, our Board of Directors serves as the legal “owner” of the organization, and therefore we are required to have a veterinarian on the board who can sign our annual Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine reporting paperwork in that ownership capacity.
To clarify:
• This board member would not be functioning as the practicing veterinarian for the organization
• Our veterinary staff maintain their own DEA licenses and professional liability coverage
• This role is governance and oversight-focused and does not include operational or clinical management
We are looking for a collaborative veterinarian who believes in innovative, community-centered animal welfare work and has the capacity to serve as an engaged board member.
The Bond Between Board of Directors is an oversight and strategic governance board, not an actionary or working board. Board expectations currently include:
• Attending approximately 6 board meetings annually (every other month)
• Serving on 1-2 committees based on interest and expertise, including:
• Strategy
• Finance
• Governance
• Development
• Executive
Our organization has evolved significantly over the last several years, expanding beyond traditional rescue work into surrender prevention, veterinary access, respite foster care, tribal partnerships, and community support services designed to keep people and animals together whenever possible.
We are looking for someone who:
• Values collaboration and thoughtful leadership
• Is excited by progressive and holistic animal welfare models
• Understands the importance of accessible veterinary care
• Can provide governance-level insight and support
• Has the time and interest to actively participate in board service
