Position Overview We are seeking a Test Architect specializing in Performance, Scale, and Reliability Engineering to join our engineering organization. In this role, you will define and lead the strategy for performance testing across our portfolio. You will design and implement benchmark environments, develop test harnesses and scripts, and simulate real-world customer scenarios to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of scalability, responsiveness, and reliability. Key Responsibilities Performance Strategy & Leadership • Define the vision and roadmap for performance, scalability, and reliability testing across products. • Partner with engineering, product management, and customer success to gather and translate performance requirements into actionable test objectives. • Establish key metrics and benchmarks for performance and scalability. Test Environment & Frameworks • Architect and maintain performance test environments that closely model production and customer deployments. • Design reusable test harnesses, frameworks, and automation to streamline performance testing. • Evaluate and integrate modern tools and technologies for load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing. Execution & Analysis • Develop and run performance tests, analyze results, and identify bottlenecks. • Provide actionable insights to engineering teams, influencing product design for optimal performance and reliability. • Conduct capacity planning and model system behavior under peak workloads and failure scenarios. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Serve as the subject-matter expert on performance and scalability. • Mentor engineers and QA teams on best practices for building performance into products from the ground up. Thought Leadership & Mentorship • Mentor senior engineers and influence engineering culture across product lines. • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to executives, product leaders, and strategic customers. • Represent the company in industry forums, customer briefings, and technical communities. Qualifications • Proven experience (8+ years) in performance engineering, scale testing, or software reliability roles. • Strong background in designing and executing benchmarks and performance test suites for complex systems. • Hands-on expertise with tools such as JMeter, Gatling, Locust, k6, or equivalent. • Solid knowledge of system architecture, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and container orchestration (Kubernetes). • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, or similar). • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data. • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience as a Test Architect, or equivalent in an enterprise security or infrastructure SaaS company. • Experience with CI/CD, policy-as-code, and DevSecOps pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
