Remote Full-time
Dragonfli Group is a cybersecurity and IT consulting firm providing services to federal agencies and Fortune 100 enterprises. Headquartered in Washington, DC, Dragonfli supports clients in securing mission-critical systems across on-site, hybrid, and fully remote environments.

We are seeking a Technical Writer to support a large federal agency's cybersecurity program in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be the bridge between complex security concepts and the people who need to understand them — translating technical documentation, policy frameworks, and cybersecurity guidance into clear, accurate, and accessible written content. You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity engineers, analysts, and program managers to produce high-quality deliverables that support the agency's security posture and compliance objectives. Candidates with 2–3 years of experience in technical writing within a cybersecurity or IT context are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with NIST, NIST CSF, and CIS frameworks is essential. A working knowledge of AI tools is a plus.

This is a multi-year contract position involving a large US federal agency. Candidates with previous federal contracting experience are preferred. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required. If hired, all work related to this role must be performed within the continental U.S.

Responsibilities:
Translate complex cybersecurity concepts, processes, and technical findings into plain-language written content for a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
Develop and maintain technical documentation including policies, procedures, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and program reports
Apply knowledge of NIST, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), and CIS Controls to inform and structure documentation deliverables
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and program managers to gather technical information and validate accuracy
Support cybersecurity program communications, including presentations, briefings, and executive summaries
Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with agency style standards
Assist in documenting AI tools and their appropriate use within the program context
Maintain version control and documentation repositories in accordance with program standards
Participate in team meetings and contribute to sprint planning or project milestone reviews as applicable

Requirements

Must-Have:
2–3 years of experience in technical writing within a cybersecurity or IT environment
Demonstrated ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, natural-language content for diverse audiences
Familiarity with NIST, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), and/or CIS Controls
General cybersecurity experience sufficient to understand subject matter and collaborate effectively with technical staff
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card)
Ability to successfully complete a federal background check and obtain public trust clearance
All work must be performed within the continental United States

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
Experience supporting federal agency or government contracting environments
Familiarity with AI tools and their application in a professional writing or documentation context
Experience with document management systems or version control platforms
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, or similar collaboration tools
Exposure to additional cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, FedRAMP, FISMA)
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

Technical Skills:
Technical writing and documentation development

Cybersecurity fundamentals (terminology, domains, threat landscape)
Policy and procedure writing
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
SharePoint or equivalent document management platforms
AI tools (e.g., writing assistants, summarization tools)
Style guide application and editorial review

Soft Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Intellectual curiosity and ability to quickly absorb new technical subject matter
Collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally with SMEs
