Technical Apparel Designer – Performance / Absorbent Sleepwear (Contract)
Job Overview We are seeking a talented and innovative Technical Apparel Designer specializing in Performance and Absorbent Sleepwear on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of producing ready tech packs for functional, comfortable, and stylish sleepwear products that meet performance standards and consumer needs. Duties • Conceptualize and develop innovative designs for performance and absorbent sleepwear, integrating technical features with fashion-forward aesthetics. • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, to create detailed sketches, technical drawings, and color palettes. • Develop CAD patterns and prototypes, ensuring accurate garment construction and fit. • Manage product lifecycle from initial concept through production, collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure design integrity. • Apply knowledge of garment construction techniques to oversee sample development and troubleshoot design or fit issues. • Incorporate principles of color theory, fabric properties, and textile science to optimize functionality and visual appeal. • Stay informed on current trends in fashion retail, styling, graphic design, and merchandising to inform innovative sleepwear concepts. • Assist in creating technical specifications, mood boards, and presentation materials for internal review and client presentations. Qualifications • 5+ years in technical apparel design • Experience with: • Performance fabrics • Laminated or layered textiles • Moisture-management or absorbent products • Demonstrated experience with inclusive / extended sizing • Prior work with factories (Asia or Europe preferred) • Strong communication and documentation skills NICE TO HAVE (NOT REQUIRED) • Experience in sleepwear, intimates, or activewear • Knowledge of manufacturing constraints and MOQs • Familiarity with sustainability-focused fabrics DELIVERABLES 1 complete tech pack for flagship product Size grading XS–5X Fabric recommendations Revision support through final pre-production sample Job Type: Contract Pay: From $1,200.00 per month Application Question(s): • 1.
