The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) invites applications for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the summer 2026 term of the 2025-26 session.

The general duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant positions will include:

Preparing for and attending lectures;

Assisting with grading work;

Helping to maintain the class and/or online discussion forums (as applicable);

Student consultation and holding office hours;

Conferring with and taking direction from the instructor; and

Providing assistance with other course matters as assigned by the instructor.

This position has the option to work remotely.

The TA will report formally to the JSGS Director of Administration, and their work will be directed and supervised by the course instructor, Dr. Kurtis Boyer.

Required Number of Hours: Total of 120 hours over the duration of the appointment
Duration of Employment: 2025-26 summer session

Start and End Dates: July 1 to August 31, 2026

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)


Minimum of a master’s degree in political science, public administration, public policy, or equivalent;

Excellent communication skills; and

The incumbent must be registered in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan and be in good standing with the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; priority will be given to students enrolled in the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.

The following would be assets:

Experience as a Teaching Assistant; and

Experience working in the public service or public sector.
