About the position

The Distance Learning Elementary Art Teacher at Loudoun County Public Schools is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and assessing an instructional program tailored for an elementary level distance learning environment. This role is crucial in guiding and encouraging a diverse group of students, from Kindergarten through fifth grade, to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is tasked with creating engaging learning experiences that are authentic, rigorous, and relevant, while also promoting an environment that is challenging, equitable, and developmentally responsive. In this position, the teacher will design learning experiences that align with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the LCPS curriculum, utilizing effective distance learning strategies to maximize student achievement. The teacher will also be responsible for establishing classroom expectations, developing assessments, monitoring student progress, and maintaining regular communication with parents regarding their child's progress. The role requires the teacher to personalize instruction based on individual student needs and to manage time effectively to maximize learning opportunities. Additionally, the teacher will engage and manage the behavior of online learners, ensuring that the virtual environment is conducive to learning. Collaboration with other professional staff is essential to maximize learning opportunities, and the teacher may also direct the work of teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers. Participation in the program's professional learning community is expected to deepen expertise in curriculum, content, and assessments that measure student mastery through distance learning. This position is part-time and eligible for remote work, although in-person attendance may be required for meetings and training sessions as directed by the supervisor.

• Engage and manage online learners' behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.

• Collaborate with other professional staff to plan instructional activities that maximize learning opportunities.

• Support colleagues, students, parents, and community stakeholders to promote student learning.

• Direct the work of teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers as needed.

• Participate in the professional learning community to enhance expertise in curriculum and assessments.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an elementary endorsement.

• Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and effective teaching methodologies.

• Ability to apply current research and theory to instructional programs in a distance learning environment.

• Skilled in using multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents.
