Tax Preparer and Seasonal Bookkeeper. California and Federal

We are working with an established CPA firm that is currently experiencing high tax season volume and expanding its team.

They are hiring for two separate roles. Qualified professionals may apply for one or both.

Position 1. Tax Preparer

Compensation: $125–$175 per return, depending on experience

Location: Remote or hybrid. California experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepare California and Federal individual tax returns

• Prepare small to mid-sized business returns

• Review financial statements and supporting documents

• Ensure compliance with federal and California tax laws

• Coordinate with CPA team on deadlines and open items

Qualifications

• Experience preparing personal and business returns

• Strong knowledge of California tax regulations

• Proficiency with professional tax software

• Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines

• CPA or EA preferred but not required

Position 2. Seasonal Bookkeeper

Compensation: $20–$40 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Seasonal. Flexible hours

Responsibilities

• Categorize transactions and reconcile accounts

• Clean up books for tax preparation

• Prepare financial reports

• Support CPA team with documentation requests

• Work in QuickBooks Online or Desktop

Qualifications

• Bookkeeping experience required

• Strong understanding of debits and credits

• Experience with QuickBooks

• Organized and able to work independently
