Tax Advisor/Accountant

Remote Full-time
This is a full-time remote Tax Advisor role. The Tax Advisor will be responsible for providing tax planning and compliance services, preparing tax returns, and ensuring clients remain compliant with current tax laws and IRS regulations. The Advisor will work closely with clients throughout the year to develop and implement proactive tax strategies tailored to each client’s financial and business goals.

In addition to technical tax responsibilities, the Advisor will participate in sales consultations with qualified prospective clients, present advisory solutions, and guide new clients through the onboarding process. This includes answering client questions, explaining tax strategies, and facilitating a smooth transition into the firm’s advisory services. Advisors may earn commission-based incentives on clients successfully converted and onboarded through these consultations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing tax strategies, advising clients on tax-related matters, ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, supporting clients during tax audits when necessary, and maintaining organized and accurate client records. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and maintain professional relationships with clients, as well as strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail to manage client information, documentation, and deliverables effectively.

We are looking for a smart, reliable, and detail-oriented Tax Advisor to join our remote team.

Responsibilities:
• The Advisor will be responsible for participating in qualified sales consultations and guiding prospective clients through the onboarding process. This includes presenting advisory solutions, addressing client questions, and facilitating the engagement process for new clients.
• Drafting clear, thoughtful replies that reflect U.S. tax planning insights
• Researching IRS rules and strategies to support client-specific planning
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel using functions such as pivot tables, sumif statements, and vlookup.
• Familiar with the ASC 740 book to tax workpaper prior to preparing tax returns.
• Preparing and reviewing U.S. tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1065, Schedule E, etc.)
• Supporting clients with real estate, business, and entity-level tax strategies
• Helping maintain client files, organize deliverables, and document planning notes

Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in U.S. tax preparation (individual and/or small business returns) -most of this can be taught through training
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, Drake, ProSeries, TaxDome, or similar - this can be taught through training
• Must have excellent oral and written English (you’ll draft client-facing emails, memos and letters)
• Must be comfortable with IRS research and interpreting publications
• Understanding of common U.S. tax strategies (QBI, S-corp, SEP IRA, cost segregation, etc.)
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, communicate clearly, and guide prospective clients through consultations and onboarding conversations.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, build rapport, and maintain professional relationships.
• Must possess strong organizational skills and maintain a high level of attention to detail when managing tasks, documentation, and client information.

Work Schedule:
• Full-time (40+ hours/week)
• 8 am - 6 pm EST (core working hours)

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Masters in Tax Law (Tax LLM) or a JD is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
