The California Academy of Sciences is a globally renowned scientific and cultural institution located in San Francisco. They are seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to support full-cycle recruiting for junior to mid-level roles while managing core recruiting coordination responsibilities, ensuring an inclusive and organized candidate experience.ResponsibilitiesSupport full‑cycle recruiting for entry‑level and junior roles, including sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer supportPartner with hiring managers to understand role requirements, timelines, and hiring needsConduct initial candidate screens and coordinate interview feedback and debriefsSupport equity‑minded, consistent, and inclusive hiring practices across searchesOwn interview scheduling across multiple stakeholders, ensuring a smooth and timely process for candidates and interviewersServe as a primary point of contact for candidates, providing clear, warm, and timely communication throughout the processPost and manage job requisitions in the applicant tracking system (ATS)Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date candidate records, requisition statuses, and documentationSend candidate disposition emails and support reference checks and background check coordinationPrepare and send offer materials in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Manager and People OperationsSupport onboarding logistics, including coordination with PACT colleagues for new hire setup and orientationServe as a backup for facilitating new hire orientation sessions as needed, ensuring continuity during absences or periods of high volumeEnsure a seamless handoff from recruiting to onboardingTrack recruiting activity and maintain basic hiring metrics and reportsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, candidate experience, and consistency in recruiting processesContribute to recruiting documentation, templates, and hiring manager resourcesSupport special recruiting projects and initiatives as neededSkills1–3 years of experience in recruiting coordination, recruiting, human resources, or a related administrative role, requiredExperience supporting hiring processes, including scheduling, candidate communication, and administrative coordinationExperience managing multiple requisitions, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-throughClear, professional written and verbal communication skillsService-oriented and candidate-focused approachAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentialityCollaborative and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholdersCurious, eager to learn, and open to feedbackProactive and solutions-oriented mindsetAbility to balance structure and flexibility in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in hiringExperience using an applicant tracking system (e.g., Greenhouse or similar)Exposure to candidate sourcing, screening, or interview coordinationExperience supporting hiring in a mission-driven, nonprofit, or values-based organizationFamiliarity with Google Workspace or similar collaborative toolsBenefitsComprehensive benefits based on the hours per week workedCompany OverviewThe California Academy of Sciences is the only place on the planet with an aquariu It was founded in 1853, and is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, with a workforce of 501-1000 employees.
