Systems Programmer III
Overview:
The purpose of this job is to provide technical support for IBM z series mainframe, storage, and system software. Encouraged to install, configure, and maintain IBM and/or third-party software and to coordinate and monitor these systems. Able to work independently or as part of a team to support the efficient processing of the mainframe and system software.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, test, implement and maintain z system softwareMonitor and tune system and subsystem performanceConfigure and support mainframe DASD, tape and other subsystems Provide break-fix support using troubleshooting skills for on-call supportAnalyze and provide solutions to issuesFacilitate usage of system software by Computer Operations, Application Support and othersDefine and Allocate system resources Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
7+ years z series system programming experienceExcellent knowledge of z series mainframe operating systemAdvanced knowledge of multiple mainframe systems such as on-line systems, database systems, security, change management, automation, and scheduling systems Very strong technical skillsAbility to quickly become adept at new software and skillsPossess a strong sense of ownership to do everything necessary to achieving resultsSelf-motivated and willingness to embrace new technologiesExcellent Problem-solving skillsAdvanced Oral and written communication skillsTeam player who can mentor less experienced associatesTime Management skills with the ability to work on several projects concurrentlyAbility to take the lead on projectsDemonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze information and make sound decisions in critical situationsGeneral programming skillsOver 4 years of experience as primary support for z/OS, CICS, DB2 or other major z series system preferredBachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology preferredProgramming experience: REXX, Assembly language, or COBOL preferredPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.Note: This is a brief description of this position and is not limited to those described herein.
