This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Surplus Lines Tax Manager, you will lead a team of Tax Advisors, overseeing day-to-day surplus lines tax operations and guiding the team through complex analytical tasks and projects. You will collaborate closely with client-facing and market-facing colleagues, as well as senior leadership, to ensure accurate surplus lines tax filings, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement across assigned jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily surplus lines tax operations, implementing processes and policies to optimize productivity, accuracy, and compliance across assigned jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with client-facing and market-facing colleagues to advise on escalations and complex surplus lines placements, ensuring compliance prior to binding, accurate invoicing, and timely documentation submission for surplus lines filings.
• Coordinate workflow among client-facing, market-facing, and surplus lines processing units to guarantee timely, accurate filings and effective issue resolution.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regulators, serving as the primary point of contact for escalations, audits, inquiries, and questions related to insurance statutes and surplus lines regulations.
• Monitor pending and enacted changes to surplus lines regulations, communicate relevant updates to the team and stakeholders, and identify and escalate process improvement opportunities to streamline surplus lines business operations.

Requirements
• Knowledge of surplus lines insurance, tax, and compliance requirements, with experience ensuring accurate filings and regulatory adherence.
• Minimum 5+ years of insurance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role; surplus lines insurance experience highly desirable.
• Bachelors degree preferred, along with a Property and Casualty broker license, Surplus Lines License, or the ability to obtain required licenses within 60 days of hire.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly adapt to other applications and programs, with a client-focused mindset and strong relationship-building skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Demonstrated experience managing surplus lines regulatory relationships, audits, escalations, and complex jurisdictional issues.
• Proven track record driving process improvement initiatives, mitigating fines and penalties, and partnering with Compliance on client-based and corporate projects.
• Experience operating as an effective consultant and advisor, including training, or presenting to stakeholders using tools such as PowerPoint.

Benefits
• We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leaders.
• We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients, and communities.
• Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
