You will oversee a team of transportation planners and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop and implement plans and policies that promote sustainable and equitable transportation systems.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation planning, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Lead a team of transportation planners and provide guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects and initiatives. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including community groups, government agencies, and private organizations to gather input and build consensus on transportation projects. Stay informed about current transportation trends and best practices, and use this knowledge to inform decision-making and planning processes. Develop and manage budgets for transportation projects and programs. Conduct research and analysis to identify transportation challenges and opportunities in the city. Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies to secure financial support for transportation projects. Oversee the development of transportation impact studies and environmental assessments. Communicate transportation plans and policies to the public through presentations, reports, and outreach efforts. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of transportation projects and policies and make recommendations for improvements. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws related to transportation planning. Mentor and train junior staff members to promote professional development and growth within the department. Represent the City of Oakland at meetings, conferences, and other events related to transportation planning. Work collaboratively with other city departments to integrate transportation planning with land use, economic development, and other initiatives.
