About the People Inc. Apprentice Program: The People Inc. Apprentice Program empowers Iowa’s next generation of creators, innovators, and problem-solvers. Rooted in Des Moines and open to students across the state, it bridges classroom learning with real-world impact, offering apprentices the chance to grow with purpose while helping People Inc. shape the future of media, technology, and storytelling. This is a paid Apprenticeship, offering $15/hour. Deadline to Apply: Sunday, March 29, 2026 Eligibility Requirements: Junior, Senior or recent graduate at an accredited college or university Located in the state of Iowa Available to work 15-20 hours per week, September 7, 2026 - May 22, 2027 Ability to spend at least 2 days a week on site in our DSM office Access to your own housing and transportation to/from the DSM office About the Team: Successful Farming began in 1902 as a publication built on service journalism to help American farmers. Today, our brand includes an award-winning magazine reaching 360,000 farmers and ranchers. We focus primarily on corn, soybean, wheat, and livestock producers across the United States. Our website, Agriculture.com, launched in 1995, was among the first serving American agriculture. Today, we welcome more than 700,000 total monthly users to the site. Our brand also includes podcasts, two radio programs, and several social media platforms. About the Role: As an Editorial Apprentice you will have the opportunity to research and write for our website and magazine as well as assist with the production process for some of our other platforms such as the Successful Farming podcast. You’ll be exposed to the various aspects of agriculture covered at Successful Farming from business to agronomy and more. You will learn first-hand the different processes involved in creating timely web articles, print features, and multimedia content.
Responsibilities
• Writing a weekly digital article for Agriculture.com
• Writing print articles for Successful Farming, including one for our “Bottom Line” business section
• Produce a podcast for Successful Farming
• Produce multimedia for Crop Progress reports and social media posts
Requirements
• Ag or farming background is preferred
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Open to new challenges and excited to grow within a fast-paced, expanding, and constantly evolving organization
• Creative and driven self-starter that can take direction and run with it, asking questions up front to ensure you’re able to complete the task successfully
• Motivated problem solver who will proactively troubleshoot and create solution
• Experience with Google & Microsoft Suites
• Junior, Senior or recent graduate at an accredited college or university
• Located in the state of Iowa
• Available to work 15-20 hours per week, September 7, 2026 - May 22, 2027
• Ability to spend at least 2 days a week on site in our DSM office
• Access to your own housing and transportation to/from the DSM office
Nice-to-haves
• Some experience with digital media is a plus but not required
