• TITLE: Substitute Teacher (2023-2024) for Virtual Prep Academy (Online)
• QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 18 or older to apply.
• High School Diploma or equivalent. Hiring preference will be given in the following order:
• Applicants with a valid Idaho Education Credential;
• Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree or higher;
• Then applicants with a high school diploma.
• Ability and willingness to work on short notice.
• Pass the State Department of Education mandated criminal history/background check.
• Evidence of a pleasant, congenial personality with good judgment. Must demonstrate confidentiality, dependability and reliability.
• Computer skills necessary and ability to remotely facilitate online instruction.
• Ability to work with students, staff and the public.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• REPORTS TO: Director of Personnel and Planning
• JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To enable each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.
• PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building usually 30 minutes before teaching assignment begins.
• If necessary, reviews with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the substitute teacher's plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults as appropriate with the building principal or department head before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teacher's plans
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during recess periods as assigned by the building principal.
• Completes a written report on the form provided by the school secretary on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
• Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
• OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position. Substitute teachers will work on an as-needed basis. The substitute teacher rate of pay is as follows: applicants with a high school degree $13.33 per hour, applicants with a Bachelor's degree in any area $14.03 per hour, and applicants with a current teaching certificate $14.26 per hour. All subs will earn $11.51 per hour when subbing for a paraprofessional.

Applicants will be reimbursed for the fingerprinting fee and substitute training after completing 20 hours of substituting. Bonuses will be awarded for hours worked each month as follows: payment of $150 after completing 30 hours of substitute teaching per month, an additional payment of $200 after completing 60 hours of substitute teaching per month, and an additional payment of $200 after completing 90 hours of substitute teaching per month.
• EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Director of Personnel and Planning with input from the Building Principal and absent teacher.
