Position: Subject Matter Expert (SCADA) - Management Consulting Subject Matter Expert (SCADA) - Management Consulting Washington D.C., US DB E.C.O. A Subject Matter Expert at DB E.C.O. North America provides expertise in areas such as SCADA and other rail systems. The expert shall support across all phases of the V-Cycle (per EN 50126/8/9, CENELEC) including but not limited to system concept, system definition, system specification, risk management, requirements management, design management, interface management, verification, validation, and certification to DB E.C.O. North America’s portfolio of projects. Tasks & Responsibilities • Provide expert technical consultancy, lead tasks and support technical deliverables throughout the project system's lifecycle to ensure project deliverables align with client expectations, industry standards and regulations. • Act as a subject matter expert for SCADA engineering with a focus on system implementation, providing specialized knowledge to project teams. • Lead tasks in the development of supplier proposals, studies, quantitative analyses, and technical workshops, ensure on-time, on-budget completion and adherence to scope and quality resulting in the highest level of client satisfaction. • Participate in technical evaluations and negotiations; represent the client in vendor meetings and design reviews. • Support supplier evaluations, RFIs/RFPs, and technical clarifications; participate in workshops and design audits. • Develop the Concept of Operations and technical scope; draft specifications/SOW and interface requirements. • Define SCADA system architecture and configurations. • Contribute to interface management (CBTC, traction power, OCC/HMI, tunnel ventilation, station subsystems, and other wayside equipment). • Oversee FAT/SAT/field tests; support cutover planning, staging and rollback strategies for live environments. • Support RAMS and cybersecurity activities. • Participate in site surveys. • Support project proposals with subject matter expertise. • Mentor and educate consultants and engineers on SCADA systems, promoting skills development, professional growth, and knowledge sharing within the team. Requirements • At least 6 years of related experience in consulting/engineering for railway projects; experience with CBTC and platform screen door systems is a plus. • At least 8 years of related experience in SCADA systems and experience in one or more other rail systems. • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, applicable regulations and safety requirements. • Programming skills related to SCADA such as PLC programming, HMI design programming and communication programming. • Expertise in supporting the development of technical specifications and technical proposals. • Passion for tackling complex challenges in mobility and railway transportation sector. • Demonstrable technical experience, including the ability to perform under pressure. • Excellent communication and presentation skills. • Business-focused attitude. • Resilient, flexible, independent and well-structured working approach. • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills. • Experience in using MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills. • Occasional domestic / international travel may be required. Working Conditions and Travel You may work from your home office and/or a well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
