Journey Church - Student Director Job Description This is a role for a team player that loves worship, discipleship and relationship. The ideal candidate would be willing to make a long-term investment in junior high school and senior high school students through planning and facilitating Sunday morning group discussion, mid week groups and regular events. This staff position will maintain a deep personal life in Christ and the Bible, have a passion for people, and a solid alignment with the church’s overall mission, vision and values. As Journey Church seeks to reach wider toward Jesus and our community and walk deeper with Jesus and each other, the Student Director will lead and manage the student ministry with friendliness, precision, flexibility and joy. Since young families are an increasing demographic in our community, attracting and keeping young families at Journey Church is a high priority. The big “win” for this position is that students are excited to come to Journey every Sunday (or any Journey event) and that their faith becomes mature, actionable and contagious. Key Responsibilities: • Engage the church community with a dynamic presence and a spiritual passion. • Create a fun and relevant culture that continually exposes students to the Bible. • Foster both attitude and action toward reaching the community with relationship and the gospel. • Recruit, train, disciple, and empower staff, students and volunteers to serve and make an impacting difference in the lives of families in our church and community. • Plan and execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, high energy lessons/sermons and experiences for children, students and adults. • Attend staff meetings twice monthly (approx 1.5-2 hours during the workday) Key Skill Set: • Easily initiates and builds relationships with children, students, and adults. • Outgoing, engaging, and enthusiastic personality. • Excellent and effective verbal communicator. • Proven leadership skills as a team builder and team player. • High creativity skill set. This is a contract, task-based position, rather than a hourly position.It is expected that the work will be completed in 15-20 hours a week - 5-6 hours of it on Sunday mornings.
