Department Overview: The Institute for Research on Poverty is a nonpartisan, interdisciplinary research center focused on the causes and consequences of poverty and social inequality in the United States. Anticipated Start Date: May 26, 2026 Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): Remote Work Eligibility Detail: All Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: Minimum: 10 Maximum: 15 Schedule: Flexible Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: Minimum: $34.27 Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: Required qualifications include advanced statistical analytical skills, prior experience analyzing large-scale databases, and interest in substance use and/or criminal legal system engagement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Foundational knowledge of substance use disorders, substance use treatment systems, and the criminal legal system. Strong quantitative data analysis skills, including experience working with large-scale administrative datasets (e.g., Medicaid claims, longitudinal or panel data). Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, SAS, or Python. Ability to conduct systematic and targeted literature reviews and synthesize findings for research manuscripts, reports, and presentations. Data management skills, including data cleaning, organization, variable construction, and documentation. Position Summary/Job Duties: Dr. Tawandra Rowell-Cunsolo (Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work) is interested in hiring an hourly student starting in May 2026 through the next academic year (2026-2027). The RA/PA will be affiliated with the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) and will join a collaborative research team pursuing research on substance use treatment access and collateral consequences of incarceration. Primary responsibilities include performing literature reviews on these topics, managing a large dataset consisting of Medicaid claims associated with chronic health conditions and criminal legal system exposure, and organizing data from a National Institutes of Health-funded study examining treatment access among formerly incarcerated individuals. Required qualifications include advanced statistical analytical skills, prior experience analyzing large-scale databases, and interest in substance use and/or criminal legal system engagement.
