About the Role
The Staff Software Engineer is a critical position that requires a strong and diverse skillset to drive success. As a key player on the product team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, building and designing scalable, high-volume search platforms tailored to meet the needs of e-commerce businesses. You will contribute to foundational code elements, architectural diagrams, and product-related documentation, ensuring that our products are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and Execution (50%): Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software with a clear understanding of the value it provides. Take a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens, and consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances. Develop test suites to enable success and rapid deployment of code to production.
Learns and Grows (10%): Actively seek ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels. Learn through successful and failed experiments when tackling new problems.
Plans and Aligns (20%): Create new and better ways for the organization to be successful. Deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. Collaborate with the Product Team to ensure user stories are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable.
Supports and Enables (20%): Field questions from product and engineering teams, help grow junior engineers by providing guidance on modern software development frameworks, and lead technical discussions. Note gaps on the team and provide suggestions for changes to make the team more productive.


Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:

Must be eighteen years of age or older
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
A bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
At least 3 years of relevant work experience


Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:

3-5 years of relevant work experience
Extensive experience with front-end technology such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript/Typescript frameworks
Experience with an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java)
Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technology, cloud computing techniques, CI/CD tools, and modern software design patterns
Experience in effective data modeling with both Relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication
Experience with creating and executing unit, functional, destructive, and performance tests
Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
Experience with version control systems
Experience in designing systems for High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security
Exposure to developing technical roadmaps including work estimation, refactoring, and modernizing legacy systems
