The Impact You'll Make As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead the development and refinement of critical features that anchor the guest booking flow, from search to checkout. Your expertise will be crucial in: Reconciling new features with existing functionality to ensure seamless integration. Collaborating with Designers to translate product goals into feasible and viable user experiences. Identifying underlying patterns and abstractions to boost developer velocity while maintaining technical quality. Establishing a technical vision and delivering solutions that are flexible, efficient, and scalable. A Typical Day As a Staff Software Engineer in Pricing and Availability, your days will be filled with: Designing the Future State : Combining strategic understanding of product goals with deep knowledge of existing systems to inform technical and product tradeoffs. Leading Engineers : Guiding both your immediate team and engineers across the organization in building out technical solutions. Nurturing a Positive Culture : Fostering a culture of supportive feedback, technical quality, and fun. Steering End-to-End Product : Collaborating with Product Managers, Design, and UX to guide teams towards overall goals. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Working closely with internal teams across Search, Checkout, Reservations, and more. Your Expertise To excel in this role, you'll need: 9+ Years of Experience : A strong background in software development within a fast-paced tech environment. Backend Systems Expertise : Hands-on experience with large-scale service-oriented architectures. Excellent Communication Skills : Ability to work effectively within and across teams. Passion for Efficiency and Quality : A strong focus on system quality, user experience, and efficiency. Programming Skills : Proficiency in languages such as Scala, Python, Java, or C++.
