Staff Accountant

They are seeking a tech-savvy Staff Accountant within their Family Office Services team to work closely with family office clients and support audit and tax teams.ResponsibilitiesRecord financial transactions, balancing and reconciling a variety of accountsMaintain and review general ledger accounts and consolidationsPrepare financial statements for multiple entities, including operating businesses, trusts and estates, partnerships, private foundations, and individualsFoster and maintain strong relationships with each client and client’s outside advisors, and address any questions or issues that ariseAssume ownership and responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving accounting or documentation problems and discrepanciesDevelop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technologyTimely and accurate processing of month-end and year-end closing and reportingOther responsibilities as requiredSkillsBachelor's degree in accounting or financeMinimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experienceUnderstanding of U.S. GAAP, budgeting, financial analysis, and accounting functions generally performed by an ultra-high net worth familyComprehends common financial statements and understands complex broker/private equity statementsProficient MS Office with advanced Microsoft Excel skillsProven history of providing premier service to clients with a can-do attitudeStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to the highest level of quality and outputGood time management skills: ability to juggle and meet multiple critical deadlines and adapt to changing circumstancesAbility to quickly learn new skills and toolsAbility to identify and discuss issues and present workable solutions in a simple, meaningful, and focused manner with all levels of the team and clientsCPAPrior public accounting experience preferredQuickBooks experienceClient service accountingAsset Vantage Accounting SystemBenefitsAnnual discretionary bonus eligibility35-hour workweek during non-busy seasonCompany OverviewTopel Forman is a Chicago and Denver-based certified public accounting firm serving individuals and professionals to family-owned businesses and corporations, providing accounting, tax, attestation, family office, and advisory services.
