Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting and Payroll teams to ensure accurate recording of payroll and benefit expenses, while also managing various accounting functions and supporting financial health across multiple communities.ResponsibilitiesAct as a partner to internal and external business teams by providing qualitative and quantitative accounting/financial oversight, supporting the shared responsibility of upholding the financial health and wellbeing of a portfolio of communities, joint venture, fund, and/or investor entitiesConduct various day-to-day accounting functions in support of the portfolio accounting teamMaintain assigned monthly workpaper reconciliations: identifying, researching, and resolving problematic transactionsConduct expense review, recommending and posting journal entriesAccounts Receivable and Accounts Payable oversightAssist in month-end close responsibilities in accordance with established closing timelinesSave monthly bank statements and prepare assigned Bank ReconciliationsPrepares monthly reporting packages for internal and external stakeholdersPrepare weekly cash requirement reports and posts necessary bank activity (NSF’s, bank fees, etc.)Support the year-end audit process, to include gathering PBC requirements, preparing work papers, financial statements, and audit packagesMaintain and review monthly workpapers, perform reconciliations, review GL data, post journal entriesPrepare, analyze, and participate in the presentation of detailed monthly performance summaries to a variety of stakeholdersCompile and analyze complex financial data, recognize trends, anticipate results, resolve issues, investigate, and generate potential solutions and make recommendationsProactively work to create strong professional relationships with internal and external customersParticipate in annual budgets and forecasts using financial modeling to provide quality assumptions for corporate-controlled expenses and financial/accounting support to community partnersMaintain culture of continuous improvement, always contemplating how organizational processes can be improved to work smarter, making recommendations to Accounting Manager, Controller and/or other members of leadershipCollaborate and coordinate with various staff members to obtain information to complete all required analysis and reportsEfficiently execute/oversee monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reportingLead and/or participate in special projects and initiatives as neededCommunicate positively and proactively with operating teams to ensure timely notice and resolution of potential issues and to foster effective partnershipsAdditional duties as assignedSkillsBachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 1-3 years of accounting and/or finance experience, preferably in development or residential property management, assisted and/or independent living or public accounting; or comparable combination of education and experienceAdvanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general ledger applicationsAbility to approach role and responsibilities from a foundation of customer service, teamwork and partnershipAbility to apply reason, logic, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issuesExceptional analytical skills and detail orientationAbility to independently interpret data, formulate models, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on those conclusionsAbility to work in a professional environment holding information and data confidential as necessaryExcellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writingExcellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with and present information to associates at all levels and a wide range of business partnersAbility to work with strict deadlines in a high volume and fast-paced environmentCPA and/or MBA preferred; or comparable combination of education, experience, and certificationExperience working with Yardi Voyager accounting software preferredBenefitsHealth, vision and dental insurance optionsRetirement plansTuition reimbursementEmployee assistance programsCompany OverviewBrightview Senior Living provides health care services to the old-aged people such as independent, assisted, memory and enhanced care.
