Job Description:

Ethicon, a member of Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, Environmental Health & Safety located in San Angelo, TX.

Job Summary:

Maintain a safe workplace for fellow associates and ensure the protection of the environment at a manufacturing site. Collaborate with internal business customers and domain experts to ensure compliance with regulations and implementation of innovative EH&S techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
β€’ Guide a team of three to five direct report EH&S professional and consultant partners to deliver outstanding EH&S services at the San Angelo manufacturing site.
β€’ Build value by driving greater efficiency and standardization in the deployment of EH&S resources, processes, procedures and programs.
β€’ Guide the progress of management action plans, providing technical support to ensure corporate, business segment, and site goals are achieved.
β€’ Owns decision rights for site-level EHS hiring, staff management and workload distribution.
β€’ Continuously monitor all aspects of site performance and provide direction to site leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
β€’ Provide EHS&S technical assistance and support to site.
β€’ Prepare, submit, and maintain records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Education:

Bachelor's degree required. Science, engineering or related EH&S field preferred

Experience and Skills:

Required:
β€’ Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in a broad range of EH&S technical subject areas, with at least 2+ years running EH&S programs at a manufacturing or R&D facility.
β€’ Experience identifying, evaluating and controlling safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental risks.
β€’ Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
β€’ Strong written and communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated issues and requirements in an easily understood manner.
β€’ Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the capability to influence key business partners.
β€’ Strong leadership skills and previous supervisory experience.
β€’ Ability to use EH&S Management systems to ensure regulatory compliance.

Preferred:
β€’ Proficiency using Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
β€’ Experience using technology and innovative ideas to address problems.

Other:
β€’ 2-5% travel required; primarily domestic.
β€’ Relevant EH&S certifications preferred (e.g. CSP, CIH, REM, CMSE, etc.), but not required.
β€’ Experience working in a union environment is beneficial.
