About the position The Senior External Affairs Liaison at Southwest Power Pool (SPP) plays a critical role in researching, analyzing, and reporting on the impact of proposed legislation and regulatory activities on SPP and its stakeholders. This position involves advising the Senior Vice President for External Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, collaborating with the Director of External Affairs, and developing programs to educate elected officials and business organizations about SPP's roles and responsibilities. The role is essential for ensuring SPP remains proactive in navigating the legislative and regulatory landscape. Responsibilities • Research, analyze, monitor, and report on proposed legislation and regulatory activity affecting SPP. • Advise and assist the Senior Vice President for External Affairs and Stakeholder Relations on government and regulatory affairs. • Collaborate with the Director of External Affairs to develop and implement programs for member companies. • Educate elected officials, their staff, and business trade organizations on SPP's roles and responsibilities. • Define and execute a strategy for external affairs and stakeholder outreach. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public administration, business, communications, political science, policy analysis, or related fields. • Five years of legislative and regulatory policy analysis experience. • Thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at state and federal levels. • Experience in analyzing legislative and regulatory language. • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities. • Excellent written and communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word. • Strong presentation skills, including proficiency in PowerPoint. • Excellent organizational skills.
